MATTER OF EXTENDING THE PERIOD FOR FILLING UP THE APPLICATION FORMS FOR NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION (NTSE)

NTSE or National Talent Search Examination is considered as the most prominent scholarship exams at the high school level in India. To prepare for the Mental Ability Test, candidates must lay focus on doing more practice test papers so that they can get familiarity about a wide range of questions. Since this section has some tricky questions, so candidates are suggested to do enough practice of verbal and non-verbal questions
How many scholarships can a student get? A. A total of 1000 scholarships are disbursed under this scheme. The amount of scholarship disbursed to students varies from class to class. For studies in class 11 and 12, you can win a scholarship of INR 1,250 per month. For studies at UG/PG level, you can win a scholarship of INR 2,000 per month. For studies at PhD level, the scholarship amount is decided as per the norms of UGC. However, in 2019, the total numbers of scholarships have been raised to 2,000.

The final result of NTSE is generally declared between the months of July and September by combining the scores obtained by students in both MAT and SAT. In order to be considered for the merit, you need to obtain the qualifying marks in both the papers separately. The students shortlisted for the scholarship will be intimated through the official website of NCERT and a registered letter. Also, the marks of all students, including the shortlisted ones and the ones who did not qualify is revealed individually on the official website.
The selection process of NTSE is divided into two stages that include Stage 1 (State level examination) and Stage 2 (National level examination). Students qualifying the stage 1 examination will be qualified for the second stage of examination. The minimum qualifying marks that a student must obtain is 40% in each paper (for General/OBC category students) and 32% in each paper (for SC/ST/PH category students). Furthermore, the students shortlisted at Stage 1 will have to appear for the NTS examination at the national level and based on their performance in both MAT and SAT, the final results are declared.
You may have prepared very well for NTSE, however, it is important that you do regular practice and revision of topics. Also, if one is regular at revising and practicing the chapters you develop a good command on your speed and accuracy while solving NTSE questions. With clear concepts and time management, you ensure a significant rank on NTSE merit list.
Before you begin your preparation for NTSE, you need to make sure that you have a plan ready for it. If not, prepare a time-chart that covers all the topics of your syllabus. Ascertain that you give significant time to both your strong and weak areas.

The rate and number of scholarships rendered under NTSE have undergone several revisions over the years. As per the current scheme, a total of 1,000 scholarships will be given to students nationwide out of which 15% reservation is given to students belonging to SC category, 7.5% reservation is available for ST candidates and 27% reservation is given to OBC candidates. Also, there is a reservation of 4% for students with benchmark disabilities. The amount of scholarship that you will receive depends on your current class or level of study.
