The Modi government has given a big relief to the central employees who are worried about inflation. The Union Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved 3% increase in DA and Inflation Relief (DR) for Central Government employees and pensioners from January 1, 2022. Earlier, in October 2021, it was decided to increase the DA of Central Government employees from 28% to 31%. After this increase, DA will increase to 34 percent.

At present, central employees and pensioners are given an inflation allowance of 31 per cent. But the government has increased it from 3 per cent to 34 per cent. Central employees will be paid in full the new inflation allowance along with the April salary. Employees will also be given all arrears of last 3 months in the month of April. Central employees to get arrears of over Rs 73,440 after 3% hike in inflation allowance
Millions of employees will benefit
According to one estimate, the increase in inflation allowances will put a burden of Rs 10,000 crore on the central exchequer every year. The move will benefit 47 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners. In fact, it is believed that the government will announce an increase in the inflation allowance before Holi, but the decision has now been taken.
