The Research and Development cell will start working to identify and to find solutions to various challenges faced by the Indian Army, including critical technologies, and will work closely with the faculty and research students from IIT-Gandhinagar for the same. Indian Army has decided to set up an R&D Cell at IIT-GN campus to find solutions to the challenges and also to avail the scientific advantage for the Indian Army, and has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday, between them.
It has been decided that both the Indian Army and IIT-GN teams will share professional and technical information which includes areas of mutual interest and understanding and which will help in future.The R&D cell will be part of the faculty and research students from IIT-Gandhinagar and it will help in identifying problems and also help in effectively using critical technological resources for the Army. The MoU between the Indian Army and the team of IIT-GN will work in the right direction and the collaboration will be very fruitful in the future. Issues such as the need of better quality bullet proof jackets will be dealt at a faster pace when working together, as stated by Lt Gen Subrata Saha, as The Indian Express reports.
The R&D cell will work for the betterment of the Army and it will help in overcoming the various issues faced by the Army in a shorter span. The solutions offered will be customized and address the serious issues which Indian Army face in everyday life. The scientific knowledge will be shared and it will provide better equipments to the Army, stated Lt Gen Subrata Saha. IIT-GN Director Sudhir Jain offered complete support in finding suitable solutions to the issues faced by Indian Army in harsh climatic conditions, battling unbelievable obstacles.
